He joined the US Army and served in the 286th Ordinance Medium Maintenance Co during WWII. His unit was based at Bangor Armed Forces Reserve Center in Bangor, Maine and was deployed in England. Millard died in Atlantic City, New Jersey on April 29, 1971 at age 68. Cora died in Burlington County in 1978. Millard and Cora are buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Burlington City. Rev. E. James “Jay” Amey | James E. "Jay" Amey was born in Freemansburg PA. He served during WWII as a chaplain’s assistant mostly in Honshu and Hokkaido, Japan during the occupation. He joined the US Navy, training in Newport Rhode Island in 1940. He served as a machinist at Norfolk Naval Base and served during WWII, earning the rankof Chief Machinist Mate. After the war he became a partner in VAMCO with Paul Vollmar and Richard Maloney. The shop was located in the alley behind 409 Burlington Avenue. Frank died on November 22, 1944 of wounds received in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Purple Heart..
