This website is a project of the Delanco History Board.
The Delanco Military Veterans Project was initiated to give proper recognition to Delanco’s many military veterans, whom we define as any person serving in the US military, in any conflict or in peace time. We established the scope to include all those who have ever lived in the area now known as Delanco Township, New Jersey. We have also included residents whose contribution consisted of military or naval construction work at various shipyards and arsenals in conjunction with a war effort. This project now has several elements:
We have been collecting military histories and biographies of Delanco veterans. These come from veterans, their families and friends, and from research. These have been compiled into a comprehensive electronic listing. The purpose is to both document Delanco’s contribution to the nation, and to acknowledge the individual service of Delanco veterans.

On another level, we have made an effort to interview living veterans and documenting their personal stories for posterity. The Armed Forces Heritage Museum has offered to assist with this phase of the project.
A number of photos and artifacts have been acquired by, donated or loaned to the Delanco History Board, some of which we have displayed in the Delanco Township Atrium. Special events recognizing the service of military veterans
The Delanco History Board participates in the annual Delanco Memorial Day Parade and Memorial Day commemoration in May.
We have also participated in Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veterans Day Parades in Riverton, Beverly and Burlington.
We have held one Veterans Recognition at Delanco Township municipal auditorium featuring the stories of three local veterans.
We held a special event featuring the service of a veteran at Dobbins Church, in conjunction with Riverside and Delran Historical Societies.
We have occasionally posted the stories of individual veterans on social media as part of ongoing educational initiatives.
