Dennis E. James Dennis E. James was born in 1951, the son of Lyle and Eleanor James of Delanco. Dennis served in the US Marine Corps from 1972 to 1993 during Vietnam and Desert Storm, earning the rank of Master Sergeant. He earned a Good Conduct Medal, and a Sea Service National Defense Meritorious Unit Award. His family was active at Dobbins Memorial Church in Delanco in his youth. US Marines, MSgt ? Kenneth R. James, Sr. Kenneth R. James, Sr. was born in 1947, the son of Lyle and Eleanor James of Delanco. Ken graduated from Riverside High School and served in the US Marines in Vietnam from 1966 to 1970 and again from 1984 to 1999. He attained the rank of Gunnery Sergeant. Ken was awarded the Air Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with nine stars, National Defense Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Air Crew Wings, Navy Commendation Medal. Robin B. James Robin Bruce James was born in 1953, the son of Lyle and Eleanor James of Delanco. Robin joined the US Marine Corps in September 1972 and served during the Vietnam Conflict in North Carolina and Okinawa until September 1976. He served as a vehicle driver and dispatcher in MABS 14 and MAG 14, Ammo Company, 3rd SUP BM, attaining the rank of Sergeant. He earned a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Ribbon. After his discharge, Robin became a carrier for the US Postal Service in Delanco, Delran and Riverside from 1980 to 2011. Robin attended Dobbins Memorial Church in Delanco in his youth. William H. James William H. James was born in 1943, the son of Lyle and Eleanor James of Delanco. Bill joined the US Navy in 1961 and served as Boatswains Mate 3rd Class aboard the USS Laffey (DD 724). His service carried him into the Vietnam war. He was discharged in 1967. David E. Karmade David Emilio "Butch" Karmade was born December 7, 1946, the son of Francis "Frank" P. Karmade, exactly five years after Pearl Harbor. He served in the US Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Lejune, attaining the rank of Sergeant. After the war he was employed by Certified Steel in Lawrenceville, New Jersey until his retirement. He lived on Ash Street in Delanco for a time. Quieter times found him doing a little fishing down the shore. He was a friend of Bill. Butch died August 9, 2016 at age 69 and is buried in Brig Gen Doyle Cemetery in Arneytown New Jersey. USMC, Sgt ? Vietnam 1946 - 2016
Richard A. Kauffman Richard A. Kauffman was born in 1947 in Newark NJ and raised in South River. He graduated in 1965 and studied at Mercer County College and Thomas Edison College. He enlisted in the US Navy and served in Vietnam. After the war he spent 44 years in the banking industry. He died in 2015. US Navy, Rank? Unit? Vietnam 1947 – 2015
Arthur E. Little, Jr. Arthur E. Little, Jr. was born November 11, 1940 in Camden to Arthur & Dorothy Little, Sr. Arthur proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He later lived in Delran and was a resident of Delanco since 2006. Arthur worked for Nu Horizon of Mount Laurel selling electronic components and semi-conductors. He was an Eagles season ticket holder for over 30 years. Arthur died on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at age 82 and was buried at Bethel Memorial Park. US Army ? Vietnam 1940 - 2023
Kathleen Hall Livingston Kathleen Marie "Kathy" Hall was born November 27, 1953. She graduated from Lankenau School of Nursing in 1974 while working for Suburban General Hospital serving in the Intensive Care Unit. She entered the US Air Force as an active duty nurse in October 1974 as a 2nd Lieutenant, serving at Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas during the Vietnam Era. From 1976 to 1977, she served in the Active Reserves in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard at Willow Grove Naval Air Station. Kathy met and married Charles S. Livingston in November 1978 and moved to New Jersey. She requested Inactive Reserve status to attend college, graduating from Jefferson University with a BA in Behavioral Science in 1978, and Drexel University with a degree in Nursing in 1989. She earned her Certification as a School Nurse in graduate school. She retired from the service as a 1st Lieutenant. Kathy served as a temporary substitute for a full-time nurse in the Delanco School District from 1991 to 1992. The Livingstons have lived in Delanco since 2008. She notes that she has nearly 50 years of experience in many nursing specialties, primarily Home Care and School Nursing. Charles "Chuck" Maerten III Charles "Chuck" Maerten III was born May 1, 1937 in Delanco to Charles and Marie Josephine "Micky" Zimmermann Maerten, Jr. Chuck lived at 218 Walter in Delanco, but only until November 1, 1939 when his family moved to Palmyra. He returned many times to vacation with relatives. Chuck entered the US Air Force on July 22, 1954 at age 17, just a few days before the end of the Korean conflict. He served through the Vietnam War until September 30, 1976. He trained in communications, specializing in Morse code, Supervisor of Radio Operations. He trained at Sampson AFB New York and in Mississippi, then served in Japan, Ramstein AB Germany, Andrews AFB Maryland, Sondrestrom AB Greenland, Beale AFB California, Eglin AFB Florida, Nakhom Phanom AB Thailand, and Elmendorf AFB Alaska. He ended his military career at the USAF Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He served in15 different training and communications units over the years. He attained the rank of E-6, having earned the USAF Commendation Medal three times and the Meritorious Service Medal. He married Annegret (Ann) Harr. After his military service, Chuck served as Beer Manager for the largest retailer in Colorado Springs, then as Inventory Control Manager for his local Budweiser distributor. From 1998 until 2012 he worked as an over-the-road driver for Liberty Toyota. He retired completely in 2012 and currently lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Larry G. Melrose Larry G. Melrose was born in Cherokee, Oklahoma on October 2,1945, the son of Alfred T. and Irene Olive (Lebow) Melrose. He graduated from high school in Arroyo Grande, California in 1963. Immediately upon graduation, Larry entered the US Air Force, serving as an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam Era until 1967. During that time he was attached to the 380th OMS, 314th OMS and the 438th OMS, stationed in New York, Taiwan and New Jersey. He attained the rank of A2C. After his discharge in 1967, Larry became an Automotive Technician and worked in the field until 2007. Larry moved to Delanco in 1972. He became an Automotive Instructor for BCIT Adult Education and a substitute instructor in the BCIT School District. He also served as a Career Major Tutor of Automotive Technology for BCIT Medford Campus from 2007 until 2020. Larry married Evelyn Marie (Knight) Melrose. They are parents of Pamela A. Melrose. Dane R. Mohrmann Dane Richard Mohrmann was born in Delanco on August 8, 1946, the son of Elmer and Norma Phile Mohrmann. His family was active at Dobbins Methodist Church. Dane joined the US Air Force in June of 1964 and served in Vietnam until June 1968. He served in the 772 Radar Sq. ADC and listed his specialties as EDDP RPMN PAFSC 30551 and attained the rank of Sergeant. He earned the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and Longevity Award, National Defense Service Medal and Air Defense Command Medal. After discharge he returned to Delanco in 1975, and lived here until he died on July 18, 1990 at age 46. He is buried in Beverly National Cemetery. USAF, Sgt 772 Radar Sq ADC Vietnam 1946 - 1990
William E. "Bill" Mohrmann William E. "Bill" Mohrmann was born January 14, 1951, the son of Elmer and Norma Phile Mohrmann of Delanco and grew up on Delview Lane. He attended Delanco Schools and graduated from Riverside High School. His family was active at Dobbins Memorial Church in Delanco. Bill joined the Air Force March 17, 1971 and served until March 15, 1975 in the 44th Strategic Missile Wing as a Systems Analyst Specialist during Vietnam and the Cold War. He was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota where he worked as a missile maintenance technician on Minuteman II Ballistic Missles. He participated in Minuteman missile test launches at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. He earned the rank of Sergeant, earning the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Missile Badge, Master Team Chief Certificate, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two oak clusters, Presidential Unit Award with one oak cluster, Cold War Recognition Certificate, and New Jersey Meritorious Service Medal. After the service, Bill worked as a Production Manager for the GSE and lived in Delanco until 1977. Following the family tradition, Bill joined Washington Fire Co No 1 In 1977, Bill went to work for GSE Systems, which was part of the fossil and nuclear power industry. Bill moved to Atco, then Catonsville, Maryland in 1987. In 1992, he married Elsie Garcia. In 2003 he went to Northrop-Grumman Corporation, working as a Logistician. William E. "Bill" Morris, Jr. William E. "Bill" Morris, Jr. was born June 19, 1945. He joined the US Navy and served in the United States Navy from 1964 and served until 1974 in Vietnam. He served as a Radioman First Class aboard the Richard L. Page (DGE-5), a Guided Missile Destroyer Escort from 1972 to1974. Bill attained the rank of TEC 5. After the service, Bill married Robin Rivers in 1973 and Robin joined him in his home port of Athens Greece. Returning to Delanco, the family was active at 1st Presbyterian Church in Delanco where Bill served as an elder. Bill served on the school board for twelve years and the planning board for six years. He served as Purchasing Agent of the Stepan Co. of Fieldsboro, NJ and worked there for about fifteen years until his retirement. The family lives on Perkins Lane. Madeline Nixon Moyer Madeline C. Nixon "Honey" Moyer was born in Riverside in 1945. She lived on Mulberry Street in Delanco until 1971. She attended Delanco schools and graduated from Riverside High School in 1964 She served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Era from 1965 to 1969, assigned to the 494th and 22nd Bomb Wing, SU8 Reconn Tech Squadron in the Pacific Defense Analysis Facility. She was stationed in Texas, California and Hawaii. She earned the rank of Sergeant E-4 and a Good Conduct Medal. After the service, she worked for the US Postal Service, then served as Transportation Coordinator for Burlington Township Board of Education. She currently lives in Beverly, where she is active with the W.A. Cortright, Jr. Post of the American Legion. Charles R. Murray, Sr. Charles R. "Chick" Murray, Sr. was born October 27, 1943 in Philadelphia to Charles I. and Thelma Murray. He joined the USAF and served during the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic, specializing in airframe repair. After the service, he apprenticed with Local 13 Boilermakers Union in Philadelphia, following the brotherhood with his father, brother Roy, and son Charlie, Jr. He worked in the field as a foreman, a business agent and ultimately became a superintendant. He married Judith Sabatino in 1970. They lived on Colgate Avenue in Delanco for 34 years. Chick took an early retirement, and they moved to paradise, first to Marco Island, and recently to Naples, Florida, At various times he went by the nicknames Skipper, Murray, Chick and Bugs. Chick and Judy enjoyed traveling before and during retirement. Judy died. Charlie followed on March 2, 2022 at age 78 and was buried with military honors. USAF ? Warren T. Oldroyd Warren T. Oldroyd was born October 21, 1930 and raised on Fern Street in the Olney section of Philadelphia. His family moved to Center Street in Delanco in 1948 and Warren graduated from Burlington City High School in 1949. He worked at the custard stand at Olympia Lakes. He appears to have enrolled in Trenton State Teachers College in 1949. He joined the US Air Force Reserves during the Vietnam War. He married Patricia. They later moved to Maitland, Florida. Warren died May 6, 2013 at age 82. He is buried in Woodland Memorial Park in Gotha, Orange Co, Florida. USAF Res ? Vietnam 1930 - 2013
Edmund T. “Ed” Parsons Edmund T. “Ed” Parsons was born July 31, 1949. He lived in Maple Shade before moving to Delanco. Ed served in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. After the service, Ed joined Delanco police force in 1974. He rose through every rank and file in the police department and served as Chief of Police in Delanco beginning in 1989. Ed retired in July 2009 after 35 years of service on the force and 20 as Chief. After retiring, Ed moved to Marlton. He was a member of the Nam Knights Motorcycle Club. Jeffrey A. Pippin, Jr. Jeffrey A. Pippin, Jr. was born in March, 1955 in Riverside to Milton and Virginia Curruthers Pippin of Delanco. Jeff attended Delanco Schools and graduated from Palmyra High School. Jeff joined the US Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division in Vietnam. He married Marie and lived at several locations on Vine Street and Union Avenue in Delanco. Jeff served in the Bordentown Police Department in the K-9 Union, as a detective, and a sergeant. He also operated Delanco Fence Company. Jeff was a member of VFW Post 3020, the American Legion, and Fraternal Order of Police. Jeff died December 28, 2021 at age 66. Kenneth P. Pippin Kenneth Paul Pippin was born June 15, 1942 in Riverside to Milton and Virginia Curruthers Pippin. The family soon moved to Delanco, where Ken attended Delanco Schools and graduated from Palmyra High School in 1960. Ken was employed by Hoeganaes Corporation in Riverton beginning in 1961 and continuing for more than 30 years. Ken was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War and seved as a member of the Military Police. Ken moved back to Delanco and lived there for the next 34 years. He married (1st) Kathie Pippin; two sons. Ken served on the Delanco School Board and as a coach for youth soccer and baseball. During this time he operated a chimney sweep business with his friend, Ed Hughes. Ken married (2nd) Linda Seaman about 1997: two step children. Over the years, the family lived on Hickory, Vine and Willow Streets in Delanco. The family moved to Ward Township, Pennsylvanis in 2005. Ken died May 1, 2021 and was cremated. US Army, Rank? William T. "Bill" Pless William Thomas "Bill" Pless was born December 19, 1947 in Philadelphia. He lived in Riverside until 1957, then Delanco from about 1957 to 1972. He graduated from Riverside High School in 1965. He entered the US Army in March of 1968 at age 26. He served as a combat radio operator in the 8th Brigade,1st Battalion, of the 1st Air Cavalry in Vietnam; I-Corps in Quang Tri and 3 Corps in Tay Ninh. He attained the rank of Sergeant E5 and was awarded the Bronze Star, service medals, Airborne medals, group medals and bars before separation in March of 1969. After the war he worked at Hoeganaes in Cinnaminson and Aluminum Shapes in Delair. He married Elizabeth Ann on September 2, 1972.
