Robert A. Robertson, Sr | Robert A. "Bob" Robertson, Sr is the son of Roy E. "Deets" and Carolyn Robertson of Delanco. Bob has been living in Delanco since 1955. He graduated Riverside High School in 1965 and immediately joined the US Air Force. Bob served as a Crew Chief aircraft mechanic for F-4 Phantom jets in the 8th TAC - 497th Tactical Fighter Squadron in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. He served in both Thailand and South Vietnam during that time. He earned the Vietnam Service Medal and attained the rank of E-3. He was honorably discharged in 1969. After the service, Bob served in the Nuclear Power Industry. John B. Shaw, Sr. | John B. Shaw, Sr. was born on July 14, 1948. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam era. He married Christine Ewing; Three children. The family lived in Palmyra, then Charles Circle in Delanco. John died in Delanco January 2, 2021 at age 72, and is buried in the BG Wlm. C. Walter “Skeets” Shields | Walter Conrad "Skeets" Shields was born in Moorestown in 1939. He married Marilyn McIntosh of Riverton in 1976. They moved to Delanco and raised two children. Walter served in the US Air Force, presumably during the Vietnam War, though this is not confirmed. He went by the nickname Skeeter or Skeets. Walter was a retired welder of over forty years for Bridge Machine, Sherman Car Wash, Campbell Soup Equipment Center and Allentown Caging. He died July 27, 2007 at home at the age of 68. Edward R. Stickel, Jr. | Edward R. Stickel, Jr. was born in Delanco in 1939 and was a life-long resident. He was a 1956 graduate of Palmyra High School where he played football. He graduated with a BS degree from Delaware Valley College in Doylestown PA in 1960, then earned a Masters from Glassboro State College. After college he served in the US Marine Corps, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant. After the service, he married Elizabeth A. Sousa. One daughter. Ed taught Biology and coached Freshman football at Palmyra High School until he retired. He also served as a youth league baseball umpire. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a member of the South Park Hunt Club. Jose M. Talavera-Toso III | Jose M. Talavera-Toso-III was born in Lima, Peru on April 27, 1948 and emigrated to the US at age 13. In 1965, at age 17, he volunteered for the US Army and served for three tours of duty in Vietnam as well as service in the Dominican Republic. He was highly-decorated: Awarded a Bronze Star with Valor, Combat Infantryman, Air Medal and 3 Purple Hearts. He was proud to have earned his citizenship through his service to the United States. In 1972, Jose began a long service with the US Census Bureau. He met Dorothy Robbins of Delanco who was also in government service when both of them were working for the White House. He married her in 1973. Jose also worked long and hard for services to homeless veterans, likely because of his own long-term effects of PTSD and Agent Orange. His family moved to the Robbins family riverbank home in Delanco in 2004. Jose died of the long-term effects of Agent Orange on December 6, 2013. He is buried in Brigadier General William C. William E. Tieman | William Edward Tieman was born on March 30, 1948, to Harold and Mary Tieman of Delanco and brother of Harold, Gary, and James Tieman. Bill attended Riverside High School and graduated in June 1967. Bill was on the Varsity Football and Wrestling Teams and lettered in both sports. After graduation, he went to work for Kaiser Gypsum Co. Inc. in Delanco. Bill was drafted into the US Army on March 6, 1967. He received basic training at Fort Dix and further instruction at Fort Polk, PA.— He was sent to Vietnam on August 1, 1967. He attained the rank of Specialist Four (E4) and was certified as an expert rifleman. Bill served with Company B, 3rd Battalion, 39th Infantry, and 9th Infantry Divisions. He was wounded in action in November 1967. He was killed in action on January 8, 1968 and is buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Burlington, NJ. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart. John J. Towell | John J. Towell was born in Brooklyn New York in 1951. He moved to Willingboro with his family in 1964. He graduated from high school in 1969. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps and attained the rank of Lance Corporal when he was honorably discharged in 1975. He went on to work for the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. He advanced from Marine Machinist Apprentice through Project Manager and retired when the yard closed in 1995. He Married Barbara Anderson Fritz in 1981. He went on to serve as Production Manager for Evers International. John became a Fire Police Officer in Delanco in 1997. He obtained his EMT certification and served as an EMT, serving as President from 2001 – 2006. Richard O. White | Richard Oliver "Whitey" White was born in Camden to Dorothy White in February of 1953; brother of Robert A. White; nephew of Oliver White. He lived on Delview Lane in Delanco, attended local schools and graduated from Riverside High School. Prior to his military service, Richard worked for Cook and Bowers Candies. Richard joined the armed forces in March 1971 and served as a Structures Technition in the USAF during the Vietnam conflict. He was stationed in Thailand where he met and married Sue White in 1974. He also served in Okinawa and Guam. His service was extended at the request of the government and he later served at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota; for 20 years of service before leaving the service with the rank of Master Sergeant in March 1991. He received many commendations, including the Air Force Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters; NCO PME Ribbon; Small Arms Expert Marksman/Rifle; Air Force Longevity Service Award with four Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters; National Defense Service Medal; Air Force Training Ribbon; Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal w/Device. Russell H. Wilmerton | Russell H. Wilmerton was born and raised in Beverly. He was a direct descendant of Delanco town founder, Richard Wilmerton. Russel served in the USAF during the Vietnam Conflict. He may have also served in Korea. He married Barbara Bishop. They moved to Delanco and lived on Walnut Street in Delanco.
