Larry G. Melrose Larry G. Melrose was born in Cherokee, Oklahoma on October 2,1945, the son of Alfred T. and Irene Olive (Lebow) Melrose. He graduated from high school in Arroyo Grande, California in 1963. Immediately upon graduation, Larry entered the US Air Force, serving as an aircraft mechanic during the Vietnam Era until 1967. During that time he was attached to the 380th OMS, 314th OMS and the 438th OMS, stationed in New York, Taiwan and New Jersey. He attained the rank of A2C. After his discharge in 1967, Larry became an Automotive Technician and worked in the field until 2007. Larry moved to Delanco in 1972. He became an Automotive Instructor for BCIT Adult Education and a substitute instructor in the BCIT School District. He also served as a Career Major Tutor of Automotive Technology for BCIT Medford Campus from 2007 until 2020. Larry married Evelyn Marie (Knight) Melrose. They are parents of Pamela A. Melrose. Owen P. “Jim” Merrill Owen P. “Jim” Merrill was born in 1909 to a family of serious sailors. Jim was active at both Riverton Yacht Club and Red Dragon Canoe Club. Owen worked for H.B. Nevins Shipyard in City Island New York. Initially a Chief Bosun’s Mate in the US Coast Guard Temporary Reserve, he skippered in the offshore yacht patrol in the early stages of WWII. Later he joined the US Naval Reserves and commanded a 110 ft. wooden sub-chaser. He then served as navigator on an LSD and fleet tanker, seeing action in Luzon, Leyte Gulf, and Lingayen Gulf, as well as Okinawa. When he returned after the war he returned to civilian boating. He designed the Duster class sailboat and built many over the years. He established a sailmaking business in Delanco which he operated until 1980. He died in 1989. USCG Temp Res, Rank? Albert Hale Mershon Albert Hale Mershon was born in 1839 to Daniel and Elizabeth Burkhard Mershon in Philadelphia. He served in the Civil War in the 15th Pennsylvania Cavalry. He appears to have married, 1st, Katherine Merritt Clewges. Mr. & Mrs. Mershon were listed as residents of Delanco in Boyd's Blue Book for 1898 - 1899. Katherine died in 1909. Albert married, 2nd, Martha Rebecca in 1913. They had a yacht, "Katherine M." registered in Delanco in 1914. Albert was listed as an industrialist and Owner of Mershon Patent Shaking Grate Works. Albert and Martha appear to be the parents of M. Bertha, Mrs. Thomas C. Steel, and grandparents of Louis Davis Steel, Sr. of Delanco. Albert was residing at 345 E. Main Street, Moorestown when he died December 18, 1926. Martha died in 1942. Kathrine, Martha and Albert are buried in the Mershon mausoleum in West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. John Meyer John Meyer was a resident of Delanco. He joined the US Army and served in Europe attaining the rank of Lt Colonel. He saw action at the Battle of the Bulge. US Army, Lt Col. ? WWII, Europe ?
Anna E. Phile Miller Anna E. Phile was born February 9, 1920 and came to Delanco with her parents Dane and Violetta Miller in 1923. She became active in Dobbins Memorial Methodist Church. She joined the US Navy WAVES March 1, 1945 and served until May 1946. She served with the NAS unit in Corpus Christi as an air traffic controller, attaining the rank of SP(Y) 3rd Class. After the war she trained as a commercial artist where she met Herman J. Miller. They later married and moved to Third Street in Delanco in 1959. Anna worked at Wanamakers department stores for over 40 years as manager of the gift-wrapping department for all of the stores. Anna was active of an all-female American Legion Post 350 and served as the post commander. Anna and Herman were also active in Delanco Seniors. Herman J. Miller Herman J. Miller was born December 5, 1916 in Buffalo, New York. He joined the US Army Air Corps October 28, 1942 and served in the 2nd Armored Division for the balance of WWII. He referred to himself as an aircraft mechanic, working on P-38 fighters, but also served as a draftsman working on maps. He was discharged February 3, 1946. He was awarded the American Service Medal, European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He later attended art school on the GI bill where he met Anna E. Phile of Delanco, whom he later married. They moved to Third Street in Delanco in 1959. Herman was a gifted self-employed woodworker and sign-painter with a shop on East Union St in Burlington. He went on to work as a sign painter for Wanamaker’s Department Store in Philadelphia for 15 years. They were active in Dobbins Memorial Church and Delanco Seniors. Herman was active in American Legion Post 146 in Riverside, also a member of the Burnt Cork Association and the Highlanders Drum and Bugle Corps of Burlington. Herman died November 1, 2002 and is buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Burlington. USAAC, TEC 5 2nd Armor Div WWII, Germany 1916 – 2002

John A. “Jack” Miller John A. “Jack” Miller enlisted in the US Navy on Monday, December 8, 1941, the day after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He was quite young when he enlisted, but he trained as a metalsmith (mechanic?) on a navy repair ship in the South Pacific. He spent some extended time in the Solomon Islands. When he returned from the war he married Betty Kemble. He worked for a plant in Fallsington that manufactured equipment for nuclear power plants. He moved to Oregon for a time, then returned to Delanco to work as a supervisor at Conwed. He lived at several locations around Delanco. John was the father of Joe Miller of Delanco. US Navy ? Unit? John P. Miller John P. Miller was listed on the original Delanco WW II Honor Roll. ? ? WWII ?
Joseph A. Miller Joseph A. Miller was born March 19, 1923. He joined the US Navy and served in WWII. His rank at separation was ARM 2. He married Doris V. Miller. Joe died July 5, 1986 at age 63 and is buried in Beverly National Cemetery. He is listed on the original Delanco WW II Honor Roll. US Navy ARM 2 ? WWII 1923 - 1986
Howard T Minor Howard T. Minor grew up in Delanco. He was a first-class mechanic and worked at New York Ship building the USS South Dakota between 1939 and 1941. Howard died in 2007. Civilian Contractor Unit? WWII -2007
Russell E. Mitchell, Sr. Russell E. Mitchell, Sr. was born in 1928. He joined the US Navy February 1, 1946 and served as a Mailman 3rd Class. He was discharged December 30, 1947. He earned the WWII Victory Medal. He rejoined the US Navy October 4, 1950 during the Korean Conflict and he served until January 10, 1952. He died in 2007. Russell Mitchell, Sr. Russell Mitchell, Sr. served in both WWII and Korea. He served from February 1946 to December 30, 1947 during WWII, earning the WWII Victory Medal and from October 4, 1950 to January 10, 1952 during the Korean Conflict. His family was active at Dobbins Memorial Church in Delanco. US Navy, Mailman 3rd Class ? WWII ?
Dane R. Mohrmann Dane Richard Mohrmann was born in Delanco on August 8, 1946, the son of Elmer and Norma Phile Mohrmann. His family was active at Dobbins Methodist Church. Dane joined the US Air Force in June of 1964 and served in Vietnam until June 1968. He served in the 772 Radar Sq. ADC and listed his specialties as EDDP RPMN PAFSC 30551 and attained the rank of Sergeant. He earned the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and Longevity Award, National Defense Service Medal and Air Defense Command Medal. After discharge he returned to Delanco in 1975, and lived here until he died on July 18, 1990 at age 46. He is buried in Beverly National Cemetery. USAF, Sgt 772 Radar Sq ADC Vietnam 1946 - 1990
Elmer E. Mohrmann Elmer E. Mohrmann was born on September 3, 1921. He Joined the US Army July 13, 1942 and served until October 1, 1945 in WWII. He seperated from the service as a Tec 5 Sergeant. He earned the earned the Good Conduct Medal, EAME Medal with 3 Stars, Combat Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Battle of the Bulge Campaign Medal, Bellgium Forragere, Overseas Service Medal, Army Service Medal, NJ Distinguished Service Medal, Burlington County Honorable Service Medal, Expert and Sharpshooter Medals. When he returned to Delanco in 1945, he went to work for NJ Bell for 37 years, retiring as a supervisor. Elmer was a member of Independence Fire Co #1 in Palmyra, then joined the Washington Fire Co No 1, where he became a Life Member. He was a member of American Legion Post 146 in Riverside. He married Norma Phile. Children: William E., Keith, and Dane. They lived at on Delview Lane in Delanco and were active at Dobbins Memorial Church in Delanco. Elmer died October 22, 2008 at age 87. William E. "Bill" Mohrmann William E. "Bill" Mohrmann was born January 14, 1951, the son of Elmer and Norma Phile Mohrmann of Delanco and grew up on Delview Lane. He attended Delanco Schools and graduated from Riverside High School. His family was active at Dobbins Memorial Church in Delanco. Bill joined the Air Force March 17, 1971 and served until March 15, 1975 in the 44th Strategic Missile Wing as a Systems Analyst Specialist during Vietnam and the Cold War. He was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota where he worked as a missile maintenance technician on Minuteman II Ballistic Missles. He participated in Minuteman missile test launches at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. He earned the rank of Sergeant, earning the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Missile Badge, Master Team Chief Certificate, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two oak clusters, Presidential Unit Award with one oak cluster, Cold War Recognition Certificate, and New Jersey Meritorious Service Medal. After the service, Bill worked as a Production Manager for the GSE and lived in Delanco until 1977. Following the family tradition, Bill joined Washington Fire Co No 1 In 1977, Bill went to work for GSE Systems, which was part of the fossil and nuclear power industry. Bill moved to Atco, then Catonsville, Maryland in 1987. In 1992, he married Elsie Garcia. In 2003 he went to Northrop-Grumman Corporation, working as a Logistician. Richard T. Moore Richard T. Moore was listed on the original Delanco WW II Honor Roll. He appears to have been born February 6, 1928 and died May 28, 2009. He is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Cherry Hill. ? ? WWII 1928 - 2009

Earl K. Morgan Earl K. Morgan appears to have been born January 1, 1914. He served in WWII and earned the rank of Sergeant. He died January 9, 1988 at age 74 and is buried in Manahath Cemetery in Glassboro. Earl was listed on the original Delanco WW II Honor Roll. US Army, Sgt ? WWII 1914 - 1988
