Robert T. Pestridge Robert T. Pestridge was listed on the original Delanco WW II Honor Roll. He was born in Delanco in 1905 to Wistar W. and Lillian M. Pestridge. He had 12 siblings. He married Leona Smith in 1924, when he was 18 years old. He was listed on Delanco’s original WWII Honor Roll. He died in 1964 at age 58 or 59 and was buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Burlington. ? ? WWII 1905 – 1964

Dane H. Phile Dane Hubbart Phile was born May 18, 1896 in Philadelphia, the brother of Joseph C. Phile, Sr. He served in the US Navy from May 4, 1917 to May 3, 1921, through WWI, earning the rank of Quartermaster 1st Class. He married Violetta M. Fordham and moved with his family to Delanco in 1923. They lived at 604 Walnut St. and later moved to Delview Lane. His family was active at Dobbins Memorial Church in Delanco. He was active in the Riverside VFW Post 3020 and American Legion Post 146, where he was elected Commander in 1936 and Chaplain in 1939. Dane was also a Master Mason, raised in Harmony Lodge 52, Philadelphia. He graduated from Temple University with a degree in Mechanical Design in 1947. Dane died on August 23, 1964 in Burlington at age 68. Violetta died in 1983. They are buried in Beverly National Cemetery. US Navy, QM 1st Class ? WWII 1896 – 1964
Joseph C. Phile, Jr. Joseph C. Phile, Jr. was born July 7, 1918, the son of Joseph C. Phile, Sr. and Jane Gilbert; brother of William G. Phile, Sr. He joined the US Army during World War II and earned the rank of Private First Class. After the war, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Thaidigsman and settled in Moorestown. Joe died on July 28, 1989 and was buried in Beverly National Cemetery. US Army, PFC ? WWII 1918 - 1989
Joseph C. Phile, Sr. Joseph Caskey Phile, Sr. was born in 1893 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Benjamin Phile, brother of Dane H. Phile. His middle name was taken from his grandfather, who served in the 44th PA Militia during the Civil War. Joe trained as an electrical engineer. During WWI, Joe was in charge of electrical construction of the Quartermaster Depot in Philadelphia. He redesigned and installed the underground electrical transmission system for the Philadelphia Navy Yard. After the war in 1919, he married Jane “Jennie” Gilbert. They had three children. The family moved to Willow Street in Delanco and became active in Dobbins Methodist Church. Joseph was an electrical engineer in charge of construction for 35 years. He worked for Morris, Newmark and Brothers, Inc. in Philadelphia from 1928 until he retired in 1958. Joe was appointed Township Clerk and Tax Collector in April 19, 1940. He served as from 1940 – 1948 and Township Clerk from 1940 to 1966. Joe, his son, and brother Dane were members of the Delanco Male Chorus, which performed public concerts throughout the area and on radio broadcasts in the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. He was an active member of Washington Fire Co. No. 1 for 25 years, was a committee member of Delanco’s Boy Scout Troop 19 and served on the Board of Education for 12 years. He died in July of 1972 at age 78. Jane died in 1982. Joe and Jane are buried in Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson. Delanco’s West Avenue Recreation field was renamed the Joseph C. William G. Phile, Sr. William G. Phile, Sr. was listed on the original Delanco WW II Honor Roll. He was born March 5, 1921 in Delanco, the son of Joseph C. Phile, Sr. and Jennie Gilbert. Bill joined the US Navy during WWII and served on a PT boat in the Pacific theater. Family lore indicates his boat was part of the group that evacuated Gen. MacArthur from Corrigador. Bill married Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Taylor (1922 -2017) and they were Delanco residents for many years, residing at 1001 Burlington Avenue. Bill was an electrician and member of Washing Fire Co when it was on Union Ave. He was also Scout Master of Troop 19 before moving to Medford Leas. Bill died May 26, 2006 in Medford Leas at age 85. Harry C. Piehl Harry C. Piehl served in the US Army during WWI and was listed on Delanco's original WWI Honor Roll. He was honored for his service during WWI on Memorial Day in 1928. US Army ? WWI ?
Jeffrey A. Pippin, Jr. Jeffrey A. Pippin, Jr. was born in March, 1955 in Riverside to Milton and Virginia Curruthers Pippin of Delanco. Jeff attended Delanco Schools and graduated from Palmyra High School. Jeff joined the US Army and served in the 82nd Airborne Division in Vietnam. He married Marie and lived at several locations on Vine Street and Union Avenue in Delanco. Jeff served in the Bordentown Police Department in the K-9 Union, as a detective, and a sergeant. He also operated Delanco Fence Company. Jeff was a member of VFW Post 3020, the American Legion, and Fraternal Order of Police. Jeff died December 28, 2021 at age 66. Kenneth P. Pippin Kenneth Paul Pippin was born June 15, 1942 in Riverside to Milton and Virginia Curruthers Pippin. The family soon moved to Delanco, where Ken attended Delanco Schools and graduated from Palmyra High School in 1960. Ken was employed by Hoeganaes Corporation in Riverton beginning in 1961 and continuing for more than 30 years. Ken was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War and seved as a member of the Military Police. Ken moved back to Delanco and lived there for the next 34 years. He married (1st) Kathie Pippin; two sons. Ken served on the Delanco School Board and as a coach for youth soccer and baseball. During this time he operated a chimney sweep business with his friend, Ed Hughes. Ken married (2nd) Linda Seaman about 1997: two step children. Over the years, the family lived on Hickory, Vine and Willow Streets in Delanco. The family moved to Ward Township, Pennsylvanis in 2005. Ken died May 1, 2021 and was cremated. US Army, Rank? William M. Pippin, Jr. William P. Pippin, Jr. was born in Riverside in 1939 and was a lifelong resident of riverfront communities, most recently on West Avenue in Delanco. Bill graduated from Palmyra High School. He joined the US Army and served as a Military Police Officer in the 8th Airborne Division in Germany. Bill was a talented carpenter and built a home for his fimily at age 23. He worked for Carpet Factory Outlet in Trenton until his retirement. He married Patricia and enjoyed family life, including hunting and fishing with his sons and friends. He appreciated motorcycles, tinkering in his garage, American Bald Eagles, and nature in general. He had an artistic flair and created unique spray-painted sculptures using found objects. Bill died New Years Day 2022 at age 83 and is buried in Brig. Gen. William C. William T. "Bill" Pless William Thomas "Bill" Pless was born December 19, 1947 in Philadelphia. He lived in Riverside until 1957, then Delanco from about 1957 to 1972. He graduated from Riverside High School in 1965. He entered the US Army in March of 1968 at age 26. He served as a combat radio operator in the 8th Brigade,1st Battalion, of the 1st Air Cavalry in Vietnam; I-Corps in Quang Tri and 3 Corps in Tay Ninh. He attained the rank of Sergeant E5 and was awarded the Bronze Star, service medals, Airborne medals, group medals and bars before separation in March of 1969. After the war he worked at Hoeganaes in Cinnaminson and Aluminum Shapes in Delair. He married Elizabeth Ann on September 2, 1972. Frank H. Poole Frank H. Poole was born July 15, 1925. He served as a Coxswain in the US Navy in WWII. His name appeared on the original WWII Honor Roll. Frank died January 22, 1990 at age 64. Ridgway W. Potts, Jr. .Ridgway William Potts, Jr. was born June 14, 1911 probably the son of Ridgway William Potts (1888 - 1953), who was a partner in Rancocas Construction Company in Delanco. The family was living on Spruce Street in Delanco in 1930 and 1940. Ridgway served in the US Army in WWII attaining the rank of Tec 5. Ridgway appeared on the original WWII Honor Roll. He died July 4, 1983 at age 72 and is buried in Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson. US Army, TEC 5 ? WWII 1911 - 1983
Clifford R. Powell Clifford R. Powell was born July 26, 1893 in Lumberton NJ. He married Hannah and was living in Mt. Holly in 1921; Sons Paul A. Powell and Ross E. Powell..Clifford earned his law degree and joined a Mt. Holly law firm. Clifford served gallantly in both WWI and WWII. He organized and commanded the 50th Armored Div. of the NJ National Guard, the NJ Blues, attaining the rank of Colonel. The company went on active duty in WWII and Colonel Powell commanded them through many battles in Northern France. He was highly decorated and earned the French Croix de Garre. He rose to the rank of Maj. General. Clifford served in the NJ Assembly from 1920 – 1927, serving as Speaker in 1925. He served in the NJ Senate from 1928 to 1939, serving as Senate President from 1934 to 1935. He also served as Governor of New Jersey for five days in 1935. The family moved his to Delanco in 1927, taking residence in the former Taubel House at 915 Delaware Avenue. They were active at First Presbyterian Church. After the war he served as Chief of Staff of the New Jersey National Guard under Governor Alfred Driscol. Colonel Powell died in March 28, 1973 at age 80. He is buried in Lakeview Memorial Park. Paul A. Powell Paul Albert Powell He was born in Philadelphia on September 18, 1922, the son of Colonel Clifford and Hannah Powell. He served in the US Army in WWII, attaining the rank of 1st Lt. Paul was wounded in the hip by enemy scrapnel during action in France and was sent to England for hospitalization. Paul was listed on the original Delanco WW II Honor Roll. He married (1st) Emilie Wells Kitzelman in 1947. And (2nd) Joan D. Duncan Dollar in Napa California. He died January 10, 2012 in California. US Army; 1st Lt Unit? WWII France 1922 – 2012
Ross E. Powell Ross Emery Powell was listed on the original Delanco WW II Honor Roll. He was born in Mount Holly on March 10, 1921, the son of Colonel Clifford R. Powell and Hannah Powell. He moved to Delanco with the family in 1927, taking up residence in the former Taubel Mansion at 915 Delaware Avenue. They were active at First Presbyterian Church. Ross joined the US Army at the beginning of WWII. Ross became a 1st Lt in the 414 Infantry, 104 Infantry Div. Ross was killed in action on November 24, 1944 in Germany and was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously. He was also awarded the World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Marksmanship Badge, American Campaign Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation and Army Good Conduct Medal. Alfred H. Quigg Alfred H. Quigg was born in Delanco in September of 1924. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII. He married Dorothy E. Casey and they settled at 717 Laurel Street in Delanco. Children include Carolyn McCloskey. The were life members of Dobbins Methodist Church and Alfred was a Life Member of Washington Fire Co No 1 (50 Years). Alfred died November 1, 2016 and is buried in Asbury Methodist Cemetery in Cinnaminson. Aldred's name was omitted from the Original WWII Honor Roll. US Army ? ? WWII 1924 - 2016
Horace C. Randall, Jr. Horace Craven Randall, Jr. was born September29, 1914, one of nine children to Horace and Mamry Edna Van Sant Randall, Sr. of Langhorne, Buchks County, Pennsylvania. The family was living at 715 Chestnut Street in Delanco when Horace joined the US Army to fight in the Pacific in WWII. He was assigned to an Anti-aircraft coast artillery battalion and earned the rank of Corporal Tech 5. Horace died March 12, 2000 in Willingboro at age 85 and was buried in Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson. He was listed on the original Delanco WW II Honor Roll in Delanco.
